WELCOME TO SMITH AND KRAUS PLAY LICENSING

If you seek permission to perform one of Smith and Kraus' plays, you'll be pleasantly surprised at the simplicity and fairness of our licensing terms. We expect that this structure will make more productions financially feasible, especially for those groups who operate on very limited budgets; and by so doing, broaden the base of produced theater in America.

Below you will find an application (PART ONE) to be submitted electronically and a reconciliation form (PART TWO) to be printed and mailed in with payment.

PART ONE - APPLICATION

1. Fill in the application (PART ONE) completely and print for your records before submitting electronically to Smith and Kraus Licensing.
2. Pay $9.95 per script needed for production by credit card. If request in not approved, payment will be refunded.
3. Save your copy of the completed application (PART ONE) for use later to complete the reconciliation section (PART TWO).
4. Scripts are copyrighted and may not be reproduced without written permission of copyright holder.

PART TWO - RECONCILIATION

1. Licensing fee is 10% of box office receipts payable within 30 days of end of limited run or monthly for extended run.
2. Producer may deduct the full amount of the price of scripts purchased (shipping is .05 (five cents) per script) for the production from the licensing fee due Smith and Kraus Licensing.
3. After the run of the play, Licensee will fill in PART TWO of form and submit with payment to Smith and Kraus Licensing. If the book purchase credit exceeds the licensing fee due to SKL, then licensee will submit PART TWO indicating no further payments due SKL.
4. “SHORT CUT" - Schools may elect to pay $50 (fifty dollars) per performance in advance, less the credit for books purchased (shipping is .05 (five cents) per script.) Those making this election do not need to submit PART TWO. The transaction is completed when the license is granted.
