Robert Brustein is the founding director of the Yale Repertory Theatre and the American Repertory Theatre. A celebrated director, critic, scholar, and actor, he is the author of many books on theatre and society, fourteen adaptations, and five plays. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and he was recently inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame.
